The Wendigo are targeting specific people.
I don't know what the criteria is, but when they select a target, they'll ignore anyone else who tries to get involved.
If you know people that are stupid and self-destructive enough to go out at night, check up on them.
And if anyone has had luck tracking them, I'm interested to know how. I'll trade whatever information I have, or anything else you want.

I don't know. Something like... dirt. Mold. [She is a city cat, she doesn't know much about nature scents.]
I tried to follow it, but it disappeared into the woods.

⟪ she does not sound too hopeful. not because the answer wasn't exceedingly precise, but because, well, a lot of things in the forest smell like dirt. she knows good and well it wouldn't be enough for her to track. ⟫

[And then, sharply, like she just remembered (because she did) --]
A tooth. It lost a tooth. There's blood on it.

Blood could work. Are you near any settlement?
no subject
Forsvar. I'll be here until night comes again.

⟪ but it has to be tried, doesn't it? she's hunted using her fox-nose before, this isn't so much different. ⟫

Do you have a dog or something? [Only a little accusatory. She's not really a dog person.]
no subject
It's –– I'm a fox. ⟪ alright, that statement has caused some confusion before. ⟫ I can turn into a fox. And I've hunted as one plenty of times – I've got a fine nose for it.

Handy. [O to be a full furry.] Have you hunted by blood?
no subject
Yea. ⟪ and, if it's any reassuring, she'll be able to hear that flora's moving. she'll be there as quick as she can. ⟫ Easier to catch prey that's already injured. ⟪ still, while they have a little chatting time as she walks: ⟫ I... may wind up leading us to the scene of the attack, depending on... the amount of blood.
⟪ if it's more wendigo blood, it won't be an issue, of course. but she is trying to be as diplomatic as she can about this. ⟫ I'll have to smell it to be sure. Worst comes to worst, there's sure to be a track to follow at the ... at the place where it happened.

The snow's probably covered anything by now. But let's hope there's enough blood to get a scent.
I'll see you soon.
