i'm no webster but i think it means strange/different

i feel strange/different. not the way i was before i got here.

By that definition, all of us should be feeling some degree of strange or different.

as is the fact that everyone is just casually volunteering to share this information publicly. but it's useful to know, regardless; the priestess had made mention of the fact that it would take for his power to return. time and practice. presumably, there was ways to speed up the process; she had offered, no doubt in an effort to win some favour, to restore his to him but he had declined. not wanting to tie himself to her any more than necessary.

he regrets that now. if only for the missed opportunity at an advantage over the rest of them. ]

there could be some people that respond really well to change and stress, though admittedly i have yet to meet them

uh?? energy? i'm not sure what you mean, unless you mean like..... the lack of electricity around these parts

( peter's brain functions according to science, a planet having some underlying metaphysical energy is just... not how his brain works. he squints at this for a long time before he can find an answer. )

i guess i have never ... been able to feel that kinda energy.
the fundamentals of this place aren't that different from my world, at least as far as i can tell. gravity, dirt, oxygen, etc
what you're talking about is different from that though

yeah. you’re right. it doesn’t

( that’s a big thing for peter to say, because if he can’t explain it with SCIENCE!!!, then it’s hard for him to believe in it period. it’s the inundation of magic here that leaves him second guessing his gut instincts. he’s trying at least. )

that’s the general consensus. i guess at this point i am more concerned the court leaders are able to control us like this. they’ve used it to help us “acclimate”, seems to me like they’d do it again for just as little reason

I think it's a mistake to credit them with it entirely.

The effort expended in bringing us here would have killed a lesser being. What is concerning is whether or not the claims that it is only temporary proves true and isn't simply an attempt to placate us.

she had known, he's sure. known what he was and what his power had meant to him.

i guess, but what's worse? they take credit for the natural process of being ripped from your existence and dropkicked into another to manipulate us, or they actually have the ability to change us however they like whenever they like?

i'm getting a little tinfoil hat, i know that, but, it doesn't exactly excite me to fight a war for these people, either way.

If they could bend us to their will, they would have done so already.

[ simple as. right now the high priestess, at least, seems to want to put forth the appearance of accommodation, but that might not last. certainly not if she kept encountering resistance. the emperor remains an unknown quantity. ]

maybe not, but that doesn't mean they can't manipulate us toward what they want.

( as far as Peter is concerned, it's already started. if they don't fight, their world is doomed; if it's true, that's terrible, and if it isn't? it's a horrible bargaining chip to use to garner loyalty.

if they'll pull that, what would stop them from weakening or removing powers of those that won't fight for them? power is a slippery slope. if Peter knows anything, it's that. )

( he's practically useless at the moment, the worst he could do to one of the faction leaders without his powers is write a very strongly worded letter, probably with lacking punctuation. )
