( peter is Uncomfortable doing this. he tried desperately to change his username and nothing in his nerd brain and encyclopedic knowledge of coding languages has offered any respite from part of his name being attached to whatever he wanted to say. which means he has to be careful about what he says...

are you sure?

i mean if it is something else, i could probably try to help figure out what's wrong from my medical knowledge. i'd just need to know what you're experiencing that's making you feel not quite yourself.

100%. i'm not sick, not even hayfever. which i am not complaining about, before allergies destroy me for my impudence of implying they have no power over me

okay well i'm glad to hear it's not either of those things then.

yeah, i'm a medic. it's something i've been practicing for a couple years now back home.

( not to be that guy but medic =/= doctor... though any cure that isn't mystical are magical is more desirable than the likely medical care here.

that said... Peter doesn't get medical care, ever, for reasons. for everyone else though: )

clarke? is that your name? if i hear about anyone under the weather or worse, i will try and send them your way, since i am guessing the actual medicine in this place is probably a little lacking

[peter please!! but okay that is totally fair and really the only reason she didn't say she was a doctor is because she has a lot still left to learn and doesn't feel like she has earned that title compared to her mother]

i'm guessing you might be right about this place lacking in medicine though. ironically i'm kind of used to working in those type of situations too so i don't mind, you can definitely send them my way in those cases.

( peter hates lying, and not just because he's completely terrible at it. it makes him feel horrible, he'll do whatever he can to avoid completely lying and instead leans on half truths.

Parker is technically a part of his name, and it is what everyone at Midtown called him. he knows full well she means his first name, though, and he should tell her that it isn't Parker. it's just he feels a little too exposed by talking about his missing abilities. so instead of correcting her, he has to go with it. )

you're already used to working in a place without actual medicine?

yeah. we have very limited resources back home to work with so a lot of the time i had to improvise if people were sick or got injured. [she would go into more detail but everything that she has had to deal with back home is a very long story]

you're right, it will help you around here. there's no mris or defibs in a place like this

yeah, exactly. i'll do my part though to help people if that happens though. [she knows that they are technically divided because of the factions but she doesn't care about that]

so about what you were talking about, if you're not sick then what do you mean that you're feeling weird? [yeah she is totally turning this back around on him because she didn't forget what they were originally talking about]

that's what i thought when i first got here, but after talking to everybody, i'm less sure

( it makes him Uncomfy that potentially the faction leaders can fiddle with his powers. he would have been happier not knowing that. )

so other people are experiencing this too? what do they think it is?

that the leaders might be responsible, to make us adjust to the magic available here

i wouldn't be surprised if that is the case. maybe whatever it is you're unable to do, you just need to practice to get used to it again here?

no, it's okay. you're right, we are strangers so i get it if you're not comfortable telling me more than that and if you say you have a good reason, i believe you. [she genuinely means that too because if their positions were reversed then it's very likely she would do the same thing]

maybe but considering this is only our first conversation, i get why you wouldn't want to say much more. i mean, really i would probably do the same thing if our positions were reversed. [so it's more like she can see where he's coming from considering she has been very vague in response to his earlier questions about her experiences back home and how things were like there]
